Designing Serious Games for education

This course presents the basic principles of Serious Games and their extraordinary educational potential. These topics are illustrated with a practical session during which the students can test a selection of Serious Games (including digital and more traditional card and board type games). The course then presents the latest research on methodologies and models for designing Serious Games and also provides a demonstration of several authoring tools. Finally, I propose a list of design patterns, extracted from the analysis of several Serious Games that have proven to be effective.
  1. Serious Games and challenges
  2. Serious Game creation methodologies
